Alberto Veronesi (Direttore d’ Orchestra)
Milanese di nascita, papà di Susanna e Umberto, sono il terzo di sette fratelli. Mi sono diplomato al Conservatorio Giuseppe Verdi di Milano in Pianoforte, Composizione e Direzione d’Orchestra e nel 1992 ho fondato la Guido Cantelli Orchestra. Negli anni successivi ho iniziato a girare il mondo; le prime tappe importanti per la mia carriera sono state Salisburgo (1996) e New York (1998). Il 1999 è stato l’anno in cui ho diretto per la prima volta nella Stagione del Teatro alla Scala di Milano. Ho avuto l’onore di collaborare con nomi illustri della Lirica: uno di questi è Placido Domingo.
Sono sicuramente un “Pucciniano”. Ho il piacere di dirigere le Opere del Maestro Giacomo Puccini in giro per il Mondo. Il 28, 29 e 30 maggio 2013 è stata la volta di Tosca, a Shanghai, mentre pochi mesi prima, il 22 marzo, sono stato invitato ad inaugurare il Gran Teatro di Tianjin, sempre con Tosca. È stato per me davvero un grande onore, perché ho la “responsabilità” di essere il primo occidentale, e quindi anche il primo italiano, a ricoprire in Cina il ruolo di Direttore Artistico e Musicale di una sezione Opera.
Spesso per lavoro sono a New York, un po’ una seconda casa, dove, nel 2010, mi è stata affidata la Direzione Musicale dell’Opera Orchestra of New York. Nel 2011, a Bari, sono stato nominato Direttore Stabile della Fondazione Petruzzelli.
E poi ovviamente c’è il Festival Pucciniano, a Torre del Lago Puccini, di cui attualmente sono Consulente Artistico e Direttore Musicale.

In January 2010 the Opera Orchestra of New York, OONY, nominated Maestro Alberto Veronesi as Music Director from Season 2011 until 2016. On the 25th October 2010, the official debut took place at the Carnegie Hall with the registration and the concert of Cavalleria Rusticana of Pietro Mascagni and “La Narraise” of Jules Massenet. In November 2011, he orchestrated “Adriana Lecouvreur” with Angela Gheorghiu and Jonas Kaufmann. On the 6th January 2013, he inaugurated the Season in New York, at the Avery Fischer Hall, with the opera Andrea Chenier. First character in the opera was Mr. Roberto Alagna, with a participation of more than 3.000 people; the event achieved a great success. From May 2012 Maestro Alberto Veronesi has been nominated Artistic Director and Musical Director of the Grand Theatre of Tianjin, China. Mr. Veronesi is the first occidental that performs a such important role in China. Mr Veronesi will perform as Opera Director from 2012 until 2016 at the new Grand Theatre of Tianjin, named the second biggest Chinese theatre for size and planned events. On March 22th 2013 he launched the Season of the Opera 2013 with Tosca, a Puccini festival production. Maestro Veronesi has conducted the following Symphonies: The Wiener Philarmoniker in Vienna, The Orchestra of Maggio Musicale Fiorentino in Florence, the Orchestra of Theatre La Fenice in Venice, the Deutsche Opera Orchestra in Berlin, The Theatre Monnae Orchestra in Bruxelles, The Orchestra of Santa Cecilia Academy in Rome, The Philarmonic Theatre in Bologna and the Orchestra of S.Carlo Theatre in Naples. In 1998 Mr. Veronesi has been nominated Artistic and Musical Director at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Italy. During the Festival Mr. Veronesi has conducted all the Puccini’s operas and he also created a plan of action for new events that turned out in the construction of a new Theatre. In 2003 he won the“Abbiati” price from the italian association Critic Musicians with the production of La Bohème. From July 26th2013 he will conduct the new preparation of “Tosca”. In November 2008 Mr. Veronesi has been designated also as Artistic Director of Philarmonic Orchestra of Bologna city Theatre where he still performing a worthwhile work about Verismo. In April 2011 Mr. Veronesi has been nominated as Permanent Musical Director of “Petruzzelli Fondation” in Bari, where he conducted also the world Premiere opera of “Lo Stesso Mare” from the book of Amos Oz and music of Mr. Fabio Vacchi. On the 9th October 2011 during the 150th Italian Unit Anniversary and together with the Celebration of Columbus Day, Mr. Veronesi has conducted the Orchestra of Petruzzelli Fundation performing songs from Bellini, Rossini, Verdi e Puccini at the Fedrick P. Rose Hall- Lincoln Center. From 2001 to 2011 Alberto Veronesi was named Permanent Artistic and Music Director of the Sicilian Symphonic Orchestra of Palermo, where he conducted the whole cycle of Symphonies from Beethoven, Bruckner, Mahler and Shostakovich, and also all the symphonies of the 900’ and contemporaries operas. From summer 2011 he realized and planned the International Bellini and Romantic Opera Festival and in october of the same year he conducted the world premiere “Mameli” of Leoncavallo, performing on stage at the Theatre Vittorio Emanule II. Mr Veronesi is now following the “Verismo Project” in association with the Deutsche Grammophon. This Project is dedicated to the Italian post romantic repertoire.The project has started in 2006 with the performance of Edgar, the youngest work of Puccini, registred in extended version with Placido Domingo and appreciated from critics. The second album, “Puccini Ritrovato”, contains original version, alternation of famous ensable and fairly known parts, performed by Placido Domingo and the soprano Violeta Urmana with the Wiener Philharmoniker; followed in 2009 by L’Amico Fritz, with a live registration at the Deutsche Oper in Berlin, perfomed by Angela Gheorghiu and Roberta Alagna. In the same year arrived the publishing of “La Nuit de Ma” which contains a synphonic poem and room ditty of Leoncavallo. Opera has been performed by Domingo, Lang Lang and the Orchestra of Bologna city Theatre. In 2010 the multi-awarded opera “I Medici” of Leoncavallo with Daniela Dessi and Placido Domingo. In January 2011 the opera recently presented, “Fedora”of Giordano and Placido Domingo, Angela Gheorghiu and The Orchestra of La Monnais.
